In the Border Lines exhibition, ethnographic objects from the Wereldmuseum Rotterdam and outsider art from the collection of De Stadshof Foundation play a key role. These ethnographic objects enter into a dialogue with outsider art and contemporary visual art.

Opening Border Lines

Border Lines is the third exhibition at Garage Rotterdam and opens on Friday 31 August at 20.00 hrs. Ethnographic objects from the collection of Wereldmuseum Rotterdam play a central role in this exhibition, as well as objects from the collection of outsider art of De Stadshof Foundation.

World cuisine, lectures and world music

On Sunday afternoon 30 September 2012 at 15.00 hrs Garage Rotterdam welcomes you to attend a special event in connection with the Border Lines exhibition.

Three speakers will share their views on the interaction between contemporary visual art, outsider art and ethnography. With Stanley Bremer (Director of Wereldmuseum Rotterdam), Joost van den Toorn (one of the artists whose work is exhibited in Border Lines) and Frans Smolders (curator of Collection de Stadshof foundation). Curator Hans van der Ham (Garage Rotterdam) will talk about the Border Lines exhibition.

In addition to the lectures, there will be music by Sangat: an Indian music ensemble playing traditional instruments such as the bansuri, tabla and tanpura. There will also be culinary snacks.
