Opening Choreographed Events
By curator Bogomir Doringer
On Friday the 1st of September, we will kick-off the cultural season with Choreographed Events, the second exhibition by curator Bogomir Doringer.
The interactive artworks in Choreographed Events may be choreographed by various factors. It could be the curator or artists behind this exhibition who have created the activations for you, it might be technology, it might be algorithmic processes choreographing the activations. Or you might be the choreographer within this exhibition because of your presence and interaction with the works.
The exhibition Choreographed Events could be designed to challenge conventional narratives, which some viewers might interpret through a conspiratorial lens. From another perspective, the lights, sound, motion and patterns could establish the relationship between activations in the exhibition space and natural phenomena.
Artists: Aliki van der Kruijs & Jos Klarenbeek, Heleen Blanken, Harm van den Dorpel, Jeppe Lange, Nanno Simonis, Studio Moniker and Sweet Scope.
Choreographed Events will be on show from 2 September – 5 November. Join us for the exhibition opening on Friday the 1st of September at 7 PM!

Brandstof: Leaning Sounds and Touches
During Brandstof: Leaning Sounds and Touches on Saturday 7 October, the artistic duo Sweet Scope will perform in their installation Leaning Sounds (2022), on show within the current exhibition Choreographed Events. On the same evening we will present the première of an experimental performance together with the work Heliotrope (2019) by Heleen Blanken and Daniel de Bruin, centered around the interaction between the human and the machine.
The installation Leaning Sounds (2022) by artistic duo Sweet Scope invites visitors via simple harmonic structures to naturally make music. During Brandstof, Sweet Scope will perform in their installation together with Sound of Touches: an intuitive instrument which transfers colorful shapes into sound.
During the evening programme you can also discover a theatrical performance together with the work Heliotrope (2019) by Heleen Blanken and Daniel de Bruin. This new experiment, a collaboration between the human and machine, is an idea by technical producer Machiel Kunst.
