Home 404

Home 404 focuses on the concept of home, diasporic identity and memories. Sondi explores these themes by bringing her memories of her homeland Cameroon back to life. Inspired by local rituals, Sondi creates a digital avatar that wears three different masks and invites visitors to take part in a journey through her stories. Each mask represents a stage in the process of remembering and allows the concept of a lost home to be experienced in a new way.

Sondi’s installation combines videos and objects to evoke a sense of timelessness. The objects are enlarged and distorted, making them estranged from what they once were. With images that appear, disappear, and continuously adapt, Home 404 emphasizes the fragile and personal nature of memories. Visitors are invited to step into Sondi’s world and begin the journey by pressing the red button.
