Mg Pringgotono (Stuffo)

Mg Pringgotono (Jakarta, 1980) was educated at the State University of Jakarta (UNJ). He loves traveling on his bicycle and collaborating with other artists and communities.

In 2006 he founded a teachers and artists collective known as SERRUM. This community focused on art as public education. He also worked as Program Manager at Gudang Sarinah Ekosistem and ran the school of collectivism and Contemporary Art Ecosystems in 2026-2018.

MG Pringgotono is now director of Gudskul Contemporary art collective and ecosystem studies and teaches the subject of “Knowlegde Garden”. He achieved the Special Mention Award in the Indonesia Art Award competition in 2010 entitled ‘Contemporaneity’. He is active in working with art in public space by creating murals, art projects as Project_or (2002-now), Let’s pimp your drawing books (2010) or OTW Gallery project in Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur (2012). He started doing projects in public space such as Dinas Artistik Kota (2011) and did an art residence in Seoul Art Space Geumcheon, South Korea where he exhibited the 82:82 never-enough video work.

With his project KURIKULAB he exhibited a documentation of focus group discussions through performance and the artefact. This performance invited teachers, principles, students, activists and parliaments to talk and write artistically on the table (2013).

Awarded as “Tokoh Metro Tempo 2016” by Tempo National Magazine (2016), his personal work is mostly inspired by urban society problems, especially elevating “Comfort Zone” and “hacking system”. Besides being an artist, Mg Pringgotono was involved as art director, exhibition designer and curator for several exhibitions. In 2017, he made a platform to support DIY practices, called STUFFO/labs. This moveable workshop to engage in DIY practice and urban ecology quickly became an upcycle recycle design centre in Jakarta.

Mg Pringgotono was active in the OTW Gallery project at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2012). Exhibition at Sea+ Triennale 2013, Nasional Gallery of Indonesia.
