Tingyi Jiang

Tingyi Jiang (b. 1994, China) is an artist and performer based in The Hague. Her practice moves between performance art, theatre, and everyday life, and is described by the artist as ‘situation-specific performance’. By treating the situation as a stage, rules as scores, and action as material, Jiang transforms implicit social norms into performative acts. Her work blends reality and fiction to examine identity, language, and authority.

Central to her practice is the concept of ‘fitting’, which functions as both a method and a critical lens. This idea is developed through Jiang’s ongoing Make It Fit performance series, including Make It Fit – A Life Script (2025), which examines how individuals and structures of authority navigate systems through conditions of fitting in.
