MingJou Chen (1993, Taiwan) is a choreographer, performer, and multidisciplinary artist

based in Amsterdam. Chen is a graduate of the SNDO (School for New Dance Development) at the AHK, next to having a dance degree at the University of Taipei. MingJou Chen her artistic practice is deeply influenced by her fascination with underwater ecosystems and non-human phenomena. Drawing on her experiences as a scuba diver and her observations of coral reefs, she uses body movement, visual media and sound to create immersive, otherworldly spaces. By integrating diverse sensory elements and nonlinear storytelling, Chen invites viewers to reconsider traditional narratives and connect with a range of perspectives and lifeforms. Her work explores the potential for connection across human and non-human experiences, continually seeking ways to decenter the human spirit and discover the beauty of our interconnected world.
