Marielle Buitendijk
Mariëlle Buitendijk studied at the St. Joost academy in Breda (1996 – 2000) and the Frank Mohr Institute (2003 – 2005).
The work by Marielle Buitendijk is extraordinary and subtle. She sprays surfaces that are sawn and cut by hand with a hand-mixed colour of neutral grey. Combining these tailormade ingredients renders many unique panels.
Marielle Buitendijk’s natural inclination towards craftsmanship combined with visual art skills results in a special kind of unrealistic hyperrealism. When you come near, you see its rough structure and paint. Every incision in the work. When you look at it from a distance, the brushstroke practically disappears and the work is very much like a contemporary icon.
