Kenneth Aidoo

Kenneth Aidoo is an artist whose work investigates the positioning of Black people in society through film, painting, drawing, and video installations. He graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in 2019 with a portrait series reflecting on everyday life experiences in the Netherlands. His practice also explores the triangular connections between Ghana, the Netherlands, and Suriname, and the complexities of a bi-cultural identity. The oil pastel drawings he created for his final exam remain a central part of his artistic language today.

In 2021, Aidoo was nominated for the Royal Prize for Free Painting and went on to become one of the three winners in 2022. He also participated in the group project A Funeral for Street Culture (2021), curated by Rita Ouédraogo and Metro54 at Framer Framed, Amsterdam.
