José Quintanar

José Quintanar (b. 1984, Madrid) is an artist and researcher based in Amsterdam. His practice spans contemporary drawing, installations, and artists’ publications, with the book as a central format within his work. Through this form, Quintanar explores drawing as a game and as a method for developing processes based on rudimentary rules. He is represented by Galerie Florence Loewy in Paris. He has collaborated with international media including The New York Times and Bloomberg Businessweek, and maintains an ongoing collaboration with Hermès. His work has been presented in galleries and institutions around the world, including in London, Paris, Shanghai, Berlin, Tokyo, Porto, Milan, Marseille, and Madrid. He holds a PhD from UPM Madrid, where he completed the dissertation The Book as Public Space.
